ABOUT
The Pacific Islands Scholars Award (PISA) supports attendance and participation of Pacific Islands scholars at ASAO meetings through travel awards and waivers of conference registration and a one-year membership fee. We are particularly interested in supporting Pacific Islands scholars who have not previously attended ASAO meetings, but we encourage all prospective Pacific Islands participants (from graduate students to practicing professionals at any level) to apply. We recommend reading the application materials (see below) and the preliminary sessions for the ASAO Annual Meeting for the year in which you are applying in order to consider whether you might want to take part in one or more of them.

The application process for PISA, 2027 is now open. The award supports attendance and participation of Pacific Islands scholars by covering travel costs and through a waiver of the meeting registration and membership fees, and an honorarium.

AWARD INCLUDES
Funding for this award will be in the form of travel costs and an honorarium. The 2027 Honorarium award will support the participation of awardees in the 2027 Annual Meeting in Apia, Samoa. The award will cover the 2027 Meeting Registration Fee and a one-year membership in ASAO.
AWARD ELIGIBILITY
- The PISA supports scholars who identify as Pacific Islander and have lineage in a Pacific Island community.
- Applicants must take an active part in one or more sessions as an organizer, presenter, or participant.
- Preference is given to junior and early career scholars.
